Dear all,
Is there any difference between the snetences 1& 2:

1. Beschäftigung gestattet
2. Erwerbstätigkeit gestattet

Yes
1. Self-employment is not allowed.
2. Self-employment is allowed.

This is REALLY very strange what happened today. I have Beschäftigung gestattet. Selbständige tätigkeit nicht gesattet". This is what is known as BE in the forum. My wife went today to the ABH, she got a new Auflage with the following text: "Erwerbstätigkeit gestattet". They also wrote that her visa is cancelled when my visa is cancelled. So my wife is dependant on me. She does not work, she is looking for a job. But I found this very strange and that's why I asked.

Hi all,

I would it another way translate.

"Beschäftigung gestattet" means you are allowed to be employed... ok!

"Erwerbstätigkeit gestattet" means you are allowed to "make money" with it or in other words, you may receive the money for that work...

I don't know why they specify exactly this two points because they are related "irgendwie". Legal expressions maybe.
